Cycling Research Study in Females

Friday, 8th October 2004

The Human Performance Laboratory at the University of Birmingham is looking for well trained FEMALE cyclists/triathletes to participate in a research project investigating the effects of carbohydrate feeding on the metabolic response to cycling exercise in females. If you volunteer for this study you will be asked to perform a VO2max test and four 2 hour steady rides in our laboratory over a 4-6 week period.

You will receive detailed information on your current training status, advice on the optimal carbohydrate solution to drink during exercise and also have the opportunity to ask experts any questions about sports nutrition and exercise training.

You will also receive £50 upon completion of the study.

You should be performing regular cycling exercise training, be between 18 and 45 years old and also have had regular menstrual cycles for at least 2 months prior to the study (we cannot test females who are taking hormonal contraceptive agents). If you are interested and would like further details about the study please contact Gareth Wallis on 07980784756, 0121 414 7238 or email GAW716@bham.ac.uk or contact Sophie Yeo on 07818 632862 or email sophieyeo@hotmail.com.
