Simon Lessing Joins Ironman Wetsuits
Sunday, 27th February 2005
5-time Olympic distance World Champion and Ironman USA winner Simon Lessing is joining Ironman Wetsuits as he focuses on longer distance Ironman events.
"We are delighted that Simon is working with us, especially in his pursuit of Ironman success," said Ryan Vanderloop, Athlete Liaison at Ironman Wetsuits. "Simon is one of the few athletes racing from Olympic to Ironman in the same season. He knows the importance of exiting the water first so came to Ironman Wetsuits to help him win -whatever the distance".
A 2004 Ironman debut was a record setting win at Ironman USA in Lake Placid. "Last year I learned that there is no compromise in Ironman racing. Success at this distance is the result of extraordinary dedication, focus, and preparation," said Simon. "During the off-season, I completely re-evaluated my equipment, training and support. One of the most important changes I've made for 2005 is switching to Ironman Wetsuits. After testing these suits, I'm convinced that I'll be faster at swim-crucial short-distance races like Escape from Alcatraz and I'll swim easier at the Ironman distance."
Simon will be among an elite test group used by Ironman Wetsuits to provide feedback for design and testing of the next generation wetsuits.
