Physiological Testing with Trisportnews, RST and Gatorade
Friday, 11th March 2005
Due to unfortunate bouts of sickness recently with a few participants, we have a number of places available for testing next weekend, 19 March 2005.
Testing will be at Staffordshire Universtity throughout the day, with a Maximal Aerobic Power Test (MAP), anthropometrical data including skin fold measurements, lung function testing, and blood testing. Gatorade are also providing product for participants during the day and to take away after the event.
By testing to find an athlete's MAP data RST can predict performance ability from several minutes to many hours. Training zones based on power output or HR data can then be ascertained allowing accurate and specific training to take place, resulting in better fitness. Follow up testing should be carried out to see if training goals etc have been met. Prior to testing, RST can take your skin fold measurements allowing us to ascertain whether the weight loss goals the athlete may have are sensible or warranted. Lung function testing allows us to determine if your lungs are limiting performance and whether you have e.g. asthma. Blood testing enables us to determine your haematocrit and haemoglobin levels to check for conditions such as anaemia / iron deficiency.
Please contact us for further information or visit the RST website, www.cyclecoach.com.
