Tri-Dubai and Coeur d'Alene Cancer Challenge

Wednesday, 22nd June 2005

The Tri-Dubai triathlon team will work in conjunction with the Coeur d'Alene Cancer Challenge to raise money at the 2005 Ford Ironman USA Coeur d'Alene on June 26 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Tri-Dubai will have two team members competing at the 2005 Ford Ironman Coeur d'Alene.  Defending 2004 Ford Ironman USA Coeur d'Alene Champion Chris Legh and 2004 Ford Ironman USA Lake Placid Champion Simon Lessing have chosen to race on behalf of Coeur d'Alene Cancer Challenge (CCC) at this year's event.

The team's goal is to partner with a local charity, whenever possible, in order to make an impact in the communities that support triathlon.  When any Tri-Dubai team member places in the top three at a sponsored event, the team's management company, The Human Interest Group (HIG), donates pre-set amounts of money to the charity.

HIG has already partnered with charities in 2005 that include Cystic Fibrosis of New Zealand, the Challenged Athletes Foundation and Give Kids The World.

Legh and Lessing join a handpicked, elite group of international triathletes, who will all compete for the multisport team during the 2005 race season.

Tri-Dubai's roster for their inaugural season includes triathlon greats Peter Reid and Heather Fuhr (Canada), Tim and Nicole DeBoom (USA), Joanna Lawn and Cameron Brown (New Zealand), Chris Legh and Kate Major (Australia), Simon Lessing (Great Britain) and current world champion Normann Stadler (Germany).

More than 2,000 triathletes from around the world are expected to compete in the Ford Ironman USA Coeur d'Alene.  Athletes will be competing for 80 qualifying spots to the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, as well as a $50,000 men's pro prize purse.
