England's Triathletes Contest Commonwealth Games Places

England's leading triathletes will contest places on the England team for the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne this weekend. The St Kilda Triathlon takes place on the course for next year's games and is the second of two selection events for Team England. The women's race will feature Andrea Whitcombe, Michelle Dillon and Liz Blatchford currently ranked fourth, seventh and ninth respectively in the 2005 Triathlon World Rankings. Whilst Tim Don second ranked in the World will compete in the men's race alongside Stuart Hayes and Andrew Johns.
The St Kilda Triathlon will not only be a trial event for England but also for Australia and New Zealand. Although the races take place on Saturday morning in Melbourne due to time difference the first race starts at 10.00pm Friday evening UK time.
