Zyemtsev, Yastrebov to Compete at Ironman Florida

Thursday, 20th October 2005

Ukrainians Victor Zyemtsev and Andriy Yastrebov will compete at the 2005 Ford Ironman Florida being held on 5 November in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Zyemtsev claimed the men's title at the 2005 Ford Ironman USA Coeur d'Alene held this past June with an overall time of eight hours, 23 minutes and 29 seconds.  Zyemtsev topped a star-studded field, beating the likes of Ironman standouts Chris Legh, Simon Lessing and Michael Lovato in claiming his first United States title.  Zyemtsev is also a three-time Ironman Austria champion, winning the event in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Yastrebov won the first Ironman title of his career by claiming the men's crown at the 2005 Ford Ironman Wisconsin (9:01:34).  Yastrebov has also posted top-three finishes at Ford Ironman Florida (second in 2003) and Ford Ironman USA Coeur d'Alene (third in 2004).  More than 2,000 triathletes from around the world are expected to compete in the 2005 Ford Ironman Florida.  Athletes will be competing for 80 qualifying spots to the 2006 Ford Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, as well as a $55,000 pro-prize purse.
