London 2012 Team Honoured in New Year List

London 2012's success in winning the race to stage the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games has been recognised in the New Year Honours.

Bid Chairman Seb Coe and Chief Executive Keith Mills were both knighted for their work in securing the Games for Britain.

And other London 2012 staff were also recognised, with one CBE, two OBE's and five MBE's.

Lord Coe KBE and Sir Keith welcomed the awards, on behalf of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG).

"We are both delighted and proud that members of the London 2012 team have been acknowledged in this year's New Year's Honours List," they said.

"Every member of the London 2012 team played a crucial role in taking the bid across the line in July. We are delighted that our efforts have been recognised in this way."

Craig Reedie, ex-Chairman of the British Olympic Association (BOA) and another key figure in the bid was also knighted.
