Female Athlete's magnificent finish in Australian Race the perfect preparation for Commonwealth Games Event close to Commonwealth Games course
Over 1800 competitors competed in the 3rd Gatorade Race in Sandringham, Australia including the elite male and female events. The race in Sandringham, is also close to the Commonwealth Games race venue of St Kilda. In a relaxed, well organised and supported event, everyone was catered for with face painting and clowns for the kids, and a live band for the adults.
A powerful swim set up Kerry Lang's win. She completed the 750m swim holding a 40 second lead over her main rivals. Despite having this lead whittled down in the 20km cycle by Katie O'Keefe, a solid 5km run left Kerry Lang in first place finishing in 1hr 7min 2sec, ahead of teenager Lynne Duthie (1hr 7min 22sec) and Katie O'Keefe (1hr 8min 22sec).
