Pre Commonwealth Games Success for Celtic Triathletes

Scotland's Kerry Lang and Northern Irelands Gavin Noble won the Victoria State Olympic-Distance Championships in Geelong, Australia at the weekend despite competing in hot conditions.

Both triathletes are preparing for the Commonwealth Games in Australia avoiding the winter conditions in the British Isles. 

Lang had no close competition, winning the 1.5km swim-40km cycle-10km run event in 2hr 12min 43sec -- more than 10 minutes ahead of second-placed competitor.

Noble won the men' race in 1hr 57min 14sec,more than a minute ahead of the defending champion Craig McKenzie.

Lang's win in the Victoria Champiuonships was her second victory down under. The previous week she took first place in the 3rd Gatorade Race in Sandringham, Australia in 1hr 7min 2sec . The race in Sandringham, was held close to the Commonwealth Games race venue of St Kilda.
