Development Squads in Action This Weekend
Saturday, 20th May 2006
With the National Championships for youths and juniors in Llanelli and the next round of the ETU Cup in Sanremo, Italy, this weekend will see most of Great Britain's future talent in action somewhere.
The National Youth and Junior Championships will again be staged as the Llanelli Millenium Coastal Park Triathlon staring at 7:30 am on Sunday morning, and are guaranteed new junior champions: Last year's winners, Olly Freeman and Rosie Clarke, have graduated to the U23s with their legacies left open. Last week's duathlon winner, Alistair Brownlee, may start as favourite in the boy's, but will be hard pushed even by last year's youth champion, Phillip Graves. The only defending champion will be Kirsty McWilliam in the girls youths, who will also be looking to continue her Edinburgh form.
Higher up the scale, Loughborough's Dann Brook and Mark Bruce will be spearheading a British challenge in Sanremo (also Sunday morning), as they build towards the National Senior Champs in Windsor, June 11.
Despite not having a title to defend, Olly Freeman will also be in action, when he and his sister, Henrietta back from her studies in Cambridge - aim to set the pace at The Blenheim Triathlon on Sunday.
The World Class Development Squads have just been reselected, with full Squad lists available in the Performance section of the British Triahtlon website.
