Brownlee and Thorrington take National Junior Titles.

Sunday, 21st May 2006

After a thrilling race in horrendous weather conditions, Alistair Brownlee took the British junior boys championship race by over a minute from Adam Hickey, who made up 6 places with the second fastest run of the day to take second. World duathlon medallist Ritchie Nicholls finished 5 seconds behind Hickey to take third.

The girl's races saw Kirstie McWilliam take the British youth girl's championship title for the second year consecutively, while Abbie Thorrington lead the junior girls race from the start to take the title from Natalie Barnard in second. Making the day a family affair, Jonathon Brownlee followed his brother's earlier success by taking the boy's youth title.

British Triathlon would especially like to thank the race organiser Noelwyn Daniel and his team of volunteers for putting on an excellent event despite the atrocious conditions.
