Bayliss and Comerford 4th at Ironman Brazil

Monday, 29th May 2006

Stephen Bayliss and Bella Comerford Britains Ironcouple had a fantastic weekend both coming 4th in the mens and womens races on Ironman Brazils Florianopolis Island based route. (May 28th, 2006)

Bayliss (www.stephenbayliss.net) set a personal best at the distance finishing in 8h35m and showed his ever improving form on his way to Ironman Hawaii in October.

His great result was set up by a 45m45s swim seeing him exit the water in 3rd and a 4h47m48s bike which left him in 7th going into T2 only to run three of his competitors down over the following 26.2 mile run.

Comerford (www.bellacomerford.com) had a strong swim in 54m42s and making her first outing on her new Argon 18 Mercury she clocked the 2nd fastest female bike split (5:12:18) to exit T2 in the chasing group of three hunting down eventual winner Lisbeth Kristensen. A strong run saw Bella finish in a total time of 9h39m35s.

On the result Stephen comments: We are both really pleased with 4th on the day, we both had good solid swim, bike and run legs which show are form is continually improving with our big end of season goals in sight.

Bella and Stephen will next be racing at Ironman UK on August 20th. (www.ironmanuk.com).
