Fine Performances on Home Turf for Young Triathletes

In what could be considered a marker for the future, Scotland's top young triathletes, yesterday where runners up at Inter Regional Championships held at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow. In what was a close contest Scotland finished a close second to last year's winners - South East of England.

Last year, the Scots team took 4th place in the competition but after a number of fine individual performances (including 3 individual category wins) the Scots came close to gaining the title.

Young Glasgow based triathlete, Kirsty McWilliam, currently a double GB Champion helped her team to 2nd spot with another win in her home city. Kirsty, who was racing in the 15-16th year old category, had a strong swim, followed by the fastest bike ride and run to win by an impressive 1min 29seconds margin.

Not to be put in the shade, Max Lott from Motherwell (in M11-12 year category) and Peter Anderson, from Angus (in the M13-14 year) both hit the top spot  boosting the Scotland teams standing. Max won by 1min 53 seconds and Peter in closer race by just 7 seconds.
