Simon Lessing Takes Silver at World Half-Ironman Champs

Britain's Simon Lessing took a magnificent second place at the World 70.3 Half-Ironman Championships in Clearwater, Florida. The Sydney Olympian and former ITU World Champion crossed the line less than two minutes behind the winner, Craig Alexander, of Australia, in a time of 3 hours 47 minutes and 25 seconds.
The Brit exited the swim in fifth place and came off the bike in third before making his way up the rostrum to second.

Samantha McGlone of Canada won the women's competition with top ranked Brit, Leanda Cave, in fourth, some six minutes behind the Candian in a time of 4 hours 18 minutes and 47 seconds. Cave led for much of the bike before being overtaken on the run, capping a good year for the US based athlete, which included a podium finish at the Hungarian leg of the BG World Cup Series.
