Helen Tucker Makes Winning Return

Thursday, 15th February 2007

Helen Tucker has made a winning return to international triathlon after an extended lay off from an achilles injury which caused her to miss the majority of last season.

In winning the Titanium Enterprises Caloundra Sprint Triathlon at Golden Beach, Australia, Tucker sped away on the bike before dominating the 4km run to win in a time of 44:49 with Carolyn Murray of Canada, and Melissa Ashton of Australia rounding out the podium.

Tucker has relocated to the Gold Coast in Australia ahead of next month's opening BG Triathlon World Cup in Mooloolaba, and is training with the established triathlon couple, Greg (Aus) and Laura Bennett (USA).

In commenting on her win, Tucker said:

"I've only been here a week and haven't quite adjusted to the heat yet ... I love it out here and it's an important part of my preparation for the ITU World Cup Series."
