WomenOnly Triathlon in Support of Breast Cancer Care

Monday, 5th March 2007

Over 2,000 competitors are anticipated to take part in this years TIMEX WomenOnly Triathlon on Saturday 30 June in support of Breast Cancer Care, the events official charity.

Following the success of its debut last year as the UK's first women-only triathlon, this annual event is all about women of all ages and levels of fitness coming together to give triathlon a go in a fun, non intimidating environment.

Whilst triathlon is often perceived to be a matter of torture rather than a fun day out, this couldn't be further from the truth; the TIMEX WomenOnly triathlon caters for all abilities with three distances on offer, which can be entered either as an individual or in a relay team, making the sport truly accessible to everyone.

Distances start with the Novice - a 200m swim, a 5km bike, and a 2.5km run or the Sprint - a 400m swim, 20km bike and 5km run, whilst the more adventurous can take up the Challenge of an 800m swim, 30km bike and 7.5km run. Taking place at 2012 Olympic venue, Dorney Lake, Eton, the venue has outstanding facilities; the lake offers a clean water swim, whilst the bike and run take place on roads around the lake which are closed to traffic, making it a safe environment for all competitors.
