5th Place for Blatchford at Oceania Triathlon Championships
Monday, 5th March 2007
Britain's Liz Blatchford was fifth in the women's race at the Geelong OCA Triathlon Oceania Championships in Australia.
World Under 23 Champion, Australia's Erin Densham, caused a stir by running down her compatriot, Annabel Luxford, in the final stages of the run having clawed back a two minute deficit coming off the bike. New Zealand took third and fourth through Debbie Tanner and Andrea Hewitt. Blatchford had been in the lead group of five coming off the bike, but could not hold off the advancing Densham and Tanner, however managed to stay ahead of World bronze medallist, Felicity Abram.
Australia took the top two positions in the men's race as Brad Kahlefeldt held off Courtney Atkinson in a sprint finish. New Zealand's Bevan Docherty was third.
