Helen Tucker Enjoys Double Victory in South America

Sunday, 20th January 2008

Britain's Helen Tucker, 23, marked her come back from prolonged injury with two successive wins in South America in Pan American Cup competition.

Tucker tore through the opposition in both Vina del Mar, Chile and La Paz, Argentina, convincingly winning each race having lead from start to finish. The points gained from the Pan American cup races will be sufficient to ensure her a much sought after place on the pontoon for the World Cup fixtures when the premier ITU circuit restarts in March.

Performance Programme Director, Heather Williams, commented:
"After a frustrating year out with injury it's good to see Helen back racing and looking forward to a competitive year on the international circuit."

Before her strong start to 2008, Tucker's last race finish was in Mooloolaba, Australia in March 2007 having spent the rest of the season on the side lines recovering from an Achilles injury. The athlete from Bridgend jumps up the British rankings to third behind Michelle Dillon and Andrea Whitcombe.
