Memory-Map And Madison Confirm Distribution Deal
Sunday, 24th February 2008
Memory-Map, the UK's leading digital mapping supplier to the outdoor and cycle sectors, has announced that it has appointed leading cycle distributor, Madison to manage its distribution
to the cycle sector.
Memory-Map will be added to Madison's already outstanding portfolio of products and will be on display at their market leading trade show, iceBike*. Memory-Map has been leading the way in digital navigation since 2001 and its principle market has been the outdoor sector. However, since 2005 it has been targeting the cycle market for growth. This development has been aided by the introduction of cycle-specific GPS receivers, all of which are compatible with Memory-Map. Commenting on the deal Ray Badminton, managing director of Memory-Map Europe, said:
"I am really pleased with this deal as it marks a natural progression for our product. We are the market leaders in digital mapping by a long chalk and it makes sense that we partner Madison as it is the biggest and best cycle distributor in the UK. With recent developments in hardware and software, an up-weighted marketing campaign and - now Madison's distribution I am sure Memory-Map will become a staple product of UK cycling."
Over the last 18 months EVO Distribution Limited, the trading company behind Memory-Map, has increased Memory-Map's presence in the cycle sector and also distributed Garmin. The two products have been received well with a current distribution network of 150 top-end IBDs. These will be migrated to Madison. Memory-Map's cycle specific marketing has also played a significant role in the products development with extensive specialist press advertising, trial disc covermounts and by providing mapping for the route guides in a number of enthusiast titles.
Richard Peploe, product director at Madison said: "We are impressed with the product and see it has an obvious place in the cycle market. EVO has done a great job seeding the product and the exposure and visibility amongst cyclists is strong. We hope to be able to capitalise on the work done to date and further enhance the product so every cyclist, whether they're planning an all-day road ride, an off road epic or coast-to-coast touring sees Memory-Map as where their journey begins."
