Tuesday, 26th April 2005
After 9th place in her opening race of the season at the Honolulu ITU World Cup, World Class Performance athlete Andrea Whitcombe switched Pacific Islands at the weekend to claim victory in the Noumea International Triathlon. Enjoying the non-drafting format, Whitcombe finished 17th overall ahead of several male internationals in a time of 2:07.25 hours, to win by over 4½ min from Australias Melissa Ashton. Whitcombe will race again this coming Sunday, May 1, in the Mooloolaba ITU World Cup, where she will be joined by fellow Brits Michelle Dillon and Paul Amey.
