Jenkins Season Halted by Illness
Wednesday, 1st June 2005
As many will now know, the new season of Athens Olympian, Marc Jenkins, has been halted almost before it has even begun. After just 2 races in the Americas, the 2003 British Champion has been diagnosed with significant DVTs (thrombosis) and confined to bed for the past week. Jenkins is now stable and recuperating at home in Bridgend, but will be out of action for several months to come. He said The events that led to this coming about are quite amazing: I began struggling to breathe, blowing up in sessions, and finding it uncomfortable to ride even on easy rides. I am yet to accept how serious it was, but I am very thankful to Dr Dean Hardie, and all around me over the last week or so.
