BBC One - Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony

Live coverage of the traditional curtain-raiser to the Commonwealth Games, from the Melbourne Cricket Ground. As more than 4,500 athletes from 71 nations prepare for 11 days of intense rivalry, the opening ceremony will celebrate the competition's tag as the Friendly Games and the Commonwealth's diverse cultures and people. Up to 3,000 performers and volunteers provide a spectacular show, which flows out of the stadium and along the Yarra River in a colourful procession. Commentators are Barry Davies and Hazel Irvine.
