Monday, 10th July 2006
Johnathan Brownlee led Great Britain to 1st place in the European Youth Championships in Rijeka, Croatia. Brownlee took over on the final leg from Philip Graves in equal first, neck and neck with the Portuguese. In true Brownlee family style, the rising star sped away on the run to take a comfortable win. It is the second gold medal for the Brownlee brothers after Alistair won the European Junior Cup race the day before. The Great Britain Youth Girl's team couldn't defend their European title and finished a disappointing fifth having led after the first leg.
