17th for Raw in Tiszaujvaros World Cup

Friday, 10th August 2007
Vanessa Raw finished a respectable seventeenth on her return to World Cup racing following a two month injury lay off. Scotland's Kerry Lang had emerged out of the water in first position along with Nicky Samuels from New Zealand. Raw also exited the 1500m swim in the lead pack and with Lang worked together in the front bike pack, despite Raw having loose handlebars and no brakes. However on the run in hot conditions Lang dropped out whilst Raw ran her way up to seventeenth. The women's race was won by New Zealand's Samantha Warriner with Australia's Emma Moffatt in second ahead of Debbie Tanner, also from New Zealand.
