2008 London World Cup Postponed

Thursday, 10th January 2008
The British Triathlon Federation Board has had to make the difficult decision to postpone the first delivery of a World Cup event in Hyde Park until 2009. Staging of an event of this magnitude requires significant planning, funding and resources. Whilst British Triathlon staging a World Cup event represents a fantastic opportunity, the Board had to consider the wider implications on the National Governing Body. Unfortunately time has run out to fully secure all relevant underwriting and other commercial partnerships. With the longer lead-in time for 2009 the aim is to complete a more exhaustive planning and budgeting process to enable the event to be delivered to the highest possible standard and able to be repeated in 2010 leading up to the test event in 2011.
